My Skin Experiment

Skin and and I have known eachother since birth. Skin is probably one of my oldest friends. Just like some of my friends, skin and I go through periods (no pun intended) of being amazing bff’s and then were completely distant. Skin knows how to hurt me deeply with her cystic acne, and I know how to push her buttons with some crappy mcdonalds and junk food.
Our relationship is usually a balancing act. But recently, Skin has been very angry with me. I take full ownership though. I should of listened to skin better and I should of done research on what would make her happy. I shouldn’t of hurt her feelings by eating too many chocolate bunnies on Easter and many many chocolate oranges on Christmas. I also didn’t clean her with the right products, causing her to have many allergic reactions.
Alright I better stop before this analogy gets really weird haha.
To sum it up, for the last 6 months, I have been dealing with some horrible acne. Its been very painful and on some days, like today, I haven’t wanted to leave the house because of the pain.
Its also quite hard being an actor and dealing with acne because, part of the job, requires you to have clear skin.
So I decided that I’m going to do a little experiment. For the next few months, I’m going to document my journey and do what I can to clear up my acne. I recorded a video below, which will be the first video in my series. My intro video talks about what I think causes my acne and what I’m going to do to try to beat it.
Along with what I mentioned in my video, I’m going to say some daily affirmations, and try to leave my face makeup-free. I know how hard it can be to be in public without makeup when you have tons of acne. But the point of this blog is to encourage the world to practice self-love, and who would I be if I didn’t practice what I preach.
So I”m going to show my body some love and do whatever I can to heal my skin. I’m also going to give my soul some love by embracing who I am right now.
If you guys have any acne fighting tips, definitely leave me a comment! Any advice for this project will be greatly appreciated.
As always, I’m sending you all so much love!
Melissa ♡
